Office Workstation: how to Design it Effectively

 |  News

Productivity in the office is strongly influenced by the environment around us. First of all from the organization of the office workstation which, if designed in an efficient and orderly manner, allows people to free their mind and carry out tasks in a precise and optimal way. Here’s how to rethink the workstation using functional and design furnishings equipped with the proper accessories.

How to Organize the Office Workstation

Ergonomics, functionality and aesthetics are the three principles that guide conscious design of the office workstation. In fact, if the comfort of the work chair and desk play a fundamental role in well-being and the prevention of health problems linked to incorrect posture, the accessories and technological devices that rest on the top of the tables also have their role in optimizing the daily activities. The PC screen, keyboard and mouse must be positioned at the right height and distance from the operator’s body, while screen dividers can guarantee the correct degree of visual and auditory privacy, to allow workers concentrate.

Desk Systems: Accessories to Organize the Workspace

Workstations can be organized efficiently thanks to the accessories supplied with Level Office Landscape desk systems. Modular and reconfigurable, they are designed for a flexible office, guaranteeing prolonged use over time combined with a contemporary aesthetic.

Screen Dividers

They returned to the fore with the health emergency and today there is no desk that is not equipped with them. Screen dividers, in addition to representing a physical barrier between different workstations, are a valid acoustic and visual screen that allow workers to focus their attention.

There are different models divided by function, shape and covering materials. Those in melamine are available with a wide variety of finishes, often similar to those of the desktop. Then there are the elegant versions with acoustic slats, the etched glass that allows the passage of natural light and, finally, the dividing screens in sound-absorbing fabric. Available with different colours, they are also used for their ability to give lively accents to the interior design of the office.

The versions with clamp allow quick reconfiguration, being easily moveable to create new operational layouts, while there are also freestanding models that stand on the floor and can be placed on the top of the desk.

In addition to their screening function, screens allow to create extra space on office workstations by housing small shelves. Made of melamine, they have a thickness of 22 mm and are available in various colours. The version in acid-etched or extra-clear and back-painted tempered glass is 10 mm thick.

Modesty Panel

Another type of screening very useful in the case of offices open to the public or in high-traffic areas are modesty panels. These are in fact protections for the lower part of the desk, which block the view of the legs from the outside. Fixed to the crosspieces of the undertop, they are generally melamine panels with a thickness of 22 mm, made with the same finishing as the desk.

Monitor holder

Crucial for maintaining correct posture at the desk, the metal monitor holders are anchored directly to the desktop and can then be easily moved thanks to a telescopic arm. Alternatively, they can be fixed on the partition screen. There are single or double versions of monitor stands, chosen for the workstations of employees who use more than one screen to carry out their tasks.

Organizing the Office Workstation: the Drawer Units

Another fundamental accessory to keep the workstation tidy, the drawer units can be easily moved thanks to the press-bent sheet metal wheels. The structure houses three drawers, each with a safety lock, completely free of edges and equipped with an anti-tipping mechanism. There are three standard dimensions: from the 422 mm, 542 mm deep and 535 mm high, to the 320 mm, 550 mm deep and 535 mm high, up to the 422 mm directional version, 700 mm deep and 535 mm high. Customizable with different colours, the chests of drawers have an epoxy powder coating.

The Structural Cabinets

Designed for the optimization of the office space and to contain personal objects and documents, structural cabinets are often installed on only one side of the desk. Made of 22mm thick melamine, they follow modules and have the same finish as the work tables. The version measuring 1600 mm by 550 mm deep and 650 mm high is equipped with a practical storage compartment with sliding door.

Electrification and Top Access for the Office Workstation

The issue of electrification of office workstations is fundamental. In fact, if the cables of technological devices are not “hidden” in special spaces, they risk taking up vital space on the worktop and collecting dust.

The metal cable collection baskets attached to the beams under the worktop are often combined with ABS vertebrae with an oval/square section or cable gland socks to hide everything from view. The socks, in particular, are available in black and white and are recommended in the presence of height-adjustable desks like Alaska. There are also cable gland caps with a diameter of 80 mm with two different materials: ABS aluminum finish or natural oxidized aluminium.

Finally, the top access units contain multiple sockets and are configured under the countertop with aluminum doors and trays, while for the meeting tables there is the chromed ABS version with back-painted glass door. Those who need numerous sockets can install a telescopic turret with a diameter of 120mm which contains 3 Schüco sockets and 2 data sockets inside.

In general, top access can open on one side or on two (in the case of meeting room tables), have trays without fruit or with fruit included and a RAL painted finish, with the same covering as the top or with a door glazed.
